Pictured here are a typical BMW 2011-present Dashboard Top wiithout Head Up Display (pictured left) and with Head Up Display (pictured right). Nearly all BMW cars from 2011-the present have obstructed views (see more images below) on their driver's side windshield because of their mass produced Dashboards. BMW's mass produced Dashboards with a 1 centimeter cut out crooked box (picured left) to accomodate an order and installment of a Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus (pictured right) deviates from traditional Dashboards 
(see History of Automotive Dashboards). Once again, no matter what BMW 2011-present automobile one chooses to buy, there will be a crooked box reflected image upon the windshield above the driver's side emanating from these idiotic mass produced Dashboard Tops. This mass produced Dashboard Top from BMW is argualbly one of the biggest blunders/fuck ups in recent automotive history. BMW's mass produced Dashboard Tops exist to offer ridiiculously rudimentary versions of Head Up Display (HUD) while reducing manufacturing costs/ aka increase profits. The resulting view from these unprecedented Dashboard Tops is clearly a traffic hazard and a safety concern that must be reported upon and addressed by all related to safety in every country BMW is sold let alone BMW themselves.

The pressing issue is most significantly the reflected image on the windshield from the Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus itself (not the holograph) and the reflected image on the windshield from the crooked square cut out on BMW's mass produced dashboards to easily accomodate a potential order for Head Up Display (HUD). Once again, these disturbing distractions in the driver's windshield view exist whether or not the Head Up Display (HUD) is on/being used. As this site will consistently show, over 95% of BMW models from 2011-present have this crooked square cut out on the Dashboard Top to accommodate a Head Up Display (HUD) installment on the Dashboard Top.

Keep in mind that even with these outrageous images, the conditions are worse because the camera does not pickup all the reflections let alone the real intensities.



 THE CROOKED HUD BOX REFLECTION EVEN SHOWS UP IN VARIOUS INTENSITIES DURING SHADIER CONDITIONS WHERE MY CAMERA CANNOT PICK UP THE DISTURBING IMAGES THAT POP INTO THE DRIVER'S VIEW.
AND YES
 WHILE ONE DRIVES AT NIGHT THE CROOKED HUD BOX REFLECTION APPEARS EVERY TIME YOU APPROACH AND COME UNDER A STREET LIGHT, HIGHWAY LIGHT, ONCOMING TRAFFIC LIGHTS FROM OTHER CARS, DRIVING BY LIGHTS IN GENERAL, ETC...  



  Day and Night... 95% of the time one is driving. This intermittently seen crooked HUD box reflection definitely affects the driver consciously and unconsciously.

The disturbing reflections are even more intense with Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus because of the installed plastic rim around the crooked box, mirror within the Head up Display (HUD) unit, and special glass used for the windshield. The Head Up Display (HUD) unit is crooked because it must conform to the concave nature of the windshield.

Why mess up a driver's clear view by offering this faulty HUD system. And why mess up a driver's clear view such a trivially small amount of redundant/unnecessary data.

The glare problem comes from not only the HUD device, but from other aspects of the poorly designed dashboard.
Obstruction can affect vision of two lanes.
Reduced ability to clearly see large objects.
A product literally with
"Tunnel Vision" -
1: a condition in which peripheral vision is greatly restricted.
2.: narrowness of viewpoint resulting from concentration on a single idea, opinion, etc, to the exclusion of others.



 And NO .... these disturbing reflections do not magically go away.. as you see with the time sequence of the photos. THE REFLECTIONS ARE A PERMANENT FEATURE OF BMW 2011-PRESENT (see Recent BMW Dashboard Tops and Disturbing Effects on the Windshield)
. These reflections from the hastily designed Dashboard Tops are a constant when one is driving no matter what driver, speed, direction, state, climate, etc..., and at best during the day appear intermittently only when the sun is behind the car. At night they are intermittent, appearing over and over again as one drives by lights. Over 95 % of the time this crooked HUD box reflection is in the driver's face/vision/field of view/etc.... Many times this crooked HUD box reflection can look like a image/potential distraction/threat/reflection to the right or to the left of the driver thereby making these other more important images/threats/potential dangers harder to discern, see, judge and react accordingly. 


OBVIOUS FACT:
DRIVERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO HAVE AND BE GIVEN THE CLEAREST VIEW POSSIBLE FOR DRIVING!!!


 It is time to shed some needed and neccessary light on the particulars of Head Up Display (HUD) technology for automobiles and BMW's idiotic Dashboard Tops that accomodate the Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus especially while Head Up Display (HUD) technology for automobiles is in rudimentary stages.
