Other Automotive Companies' Dashboard Tops

THE COMPETITION

The following is a list of most Automotive brands and how deep they are into the Head Up Display (HUD) feature. This list should show you how BMW is uniquely symbolic with Head Up Display (HUD).

Mercedes  - offered SINCE 2015 in C, E, S, CLS, GLC, GLE, GL450, SL. Now only about 1 in 200 clients on average order the Head Up Display (HUD) feature. Mercedes has a slightly smaller Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus and reflects somewhat less and more symetrical on the windshield. BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY THEY DO NOT MASS PRODUCE DASHBOARDS THAT HAVE A CUT OUT MOLD FOR A HEAD UP DISPLAY ORDER (HUD) - THEY MERELY CUT INTO THE EXISTING DASHBOARD TOPS AND CARS WITHOUT HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) HAVE THE TRADITIONAL SMOOTHER DASHBOARD TOPS. - aka they did not fuck up their dashboard caps for cars without Head Up Display (HUD) by mass producing dashboards with Head Up Display (HUD) cut outs like BMW.

Audi - offered only since 2016 in models A8, Q7, A7, planning to add in the future for A6, A4 only. Audi has a slightly smaller Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus and reflects somewhat less and more symetrical on the windshield than BMW. BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY THEY DO NOT MASS PRODUCE DASHBOARDS THAT HAVE A CUT OUT MOLD FOR A HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) ORDER - THEY MERELY CUT INTO THE EXISTING DASHBOARD TOPS AND CARS WITHOUT HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) HAVE THE TRADITIONAL SMOOTHER DASHBOARD TOPS. - aka they did not fuck up their dashboard tops for cars without Head Up Display (HUD). Now only about 1 in 200 clients on average order the Head Up Display (HUD) feature. Audi's Head Up Display (HUD) shows speed and gas consumption - simple idiotic indicators that really are not necessary.

Bentley  - only coming 2017 model SUV Bentayga - BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT PRODUCE AS MANY CARS AS BMW, THEY MERELY CUT INTO THE EXISTING DASHBOARD TOPS AND CARS WITHOUT HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) HAVE THE TRADITIONAL SMOOTHER DASHBOARD TOPS.

Volkswagen  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Rolls Royce
 - (owned by BMW) yes, and they have one of the few features within Head Up Display (HUD) I find worthwhile - collisions control. BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT PRODUCE AS MANY CARS AS BMW, THEY MERELY CUT INTO THE EXISTING DASHBOARD TOPS AND CARS WITHOUT HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) HAVE THE TRADITIONAL SMOOTHER DASHBOARD TOPS. Like BMW (same company supplies them with their HUD), the reflection is a major eyesore.

McLaren
 - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet.. and I must say ... what the heck is with some of these dashboard tops for these unreal uber-rich cars - they have many contours/grooves/showy stitching and often do not have smooth surfaces. If these were popular everyday cars there would be necessary regulations against their idiotic dashboard top designs.

Aston Martin  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Bugatti  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Ferrari  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet.. and I must say ... what the heck is with some of these dashboard tops for these unreal uber-rich cars - they have many contours/grooves/showy stitching and often do not have smooth surfaces. If these were popular everyday cars there would be necessary regulations against their idiotic dashboard top designs.

Jaquar  - only 1 since 2016 XF, 2 in 2017 - XE, FPace SUV. Their Head Up Display (HUD) is not imbedded in the dashboard cap ... it sits on top, but is a monstrosity and reflects into the windshield.

Land Rover  - only offered since 2016 in only Range Rover Sport and Full Size Range Rover. Their HUD units are also large and cumbersome. BUT THEY DO NOT PRODUCE AS MANY CARS AS BMW, THEY MERELY CUT INTO THE EXISTING DASHBOARD TOPS AND CARS WITHOUT HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) HAVE THE TRADITIONAL SMOOTHER DASHBOARD TOPS.

Porche  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Volvo  - none, 2016 only 1 high end model. BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY THEY MERELY CUT INTO THE EXISTING DASHBOARD TOPS AND CARS WITHOUT HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) HAVE THE TRADITIONAL SMOOTHER DASHBOARD TOPS.

Tesla  -  none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Maserati  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Lamborghini  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Fiat
 - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Lexus
 - only offered in 1 very rare high end model and MOST SIGNIFICANTLY THE HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) IS PROJECTED THROUGH THE THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL APPARATUS NOT THE DASHBOARD TOP. The Lexus Head Up Display (HUD) system can show fuel economy and radio stations.. more unnecesssary bullshit for fucking up the dashboard top.

Toyota  - none , 2016 only in Prius 4 and 5 models, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Infiniti
 - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Nissan  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Genesis
 - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Hyundai  - none, only in Equus, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Acura  - none, planning some for the future, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Honda  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Cadillac  - since 2016 only in there highest end model, THEY HAVE A SMALLER HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) APPARTUS WHICH IS 1/2 THE SIZE OF BMW. For most of their vehicles, they have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Buick
 - none, only in Lacrosse, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Oldsmobile  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Ford  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Chevy
 - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

GMC  - SUVs since 2014 only in there highest end models, THEY HAVE A SMALLER HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) APPARTUS WHICH IS 1/2 THE SIZE OF BMW. For most of their vehicles, they have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Jeep  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Dodge
- none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Mazda  - none, only 1, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Suburu  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

KIA  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Mitsubishi  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Oldsmobile  - none, have not messed up their dashboard tops and view through windshield yet..

Mini/Cooper  - (owned by BMW) yes, yet in the form of Head Up Display (HUD) Screen/HEAD UP SCREEN (HUS), a screen on the dashboard as opposed to an imbedded HUD unit within the Dashboard Top. This subject of Head Up Display Screens is another form of Head Up Display (HUD) that demands equal attention given their presence on top of Dashboard Tops.

and

BMW  (the largest luxury car maker by sales) - since 2013, BMW are considered the pioneers of providing Head Up Display (HUD) especially in a popular way now with 98% of their cars ready to be fitted with Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus.

The following is BMW's official and yes very simplistic description of their HUD which is TOTALLY NOT RECOGNIZING AND OR OMITTING THE REFLECTION ISSUES!!!!

 Picture used on BMW's website!!
NOTHING LIKE AN UNREAL "GREY'"BACKGROUND TO SELL YOUR PRODUCT
UNBELIEVABLY CORRUPT!!!
As my site shows
CERTAINLY SOME "GREY AREAS" WITH THIS HUD SUBJECT

BMW Head-Up Display (as described/portrayed by BMW).

"Don’t lose sight of the important things. The BMW Head-Up Display projects relevant driving information directly into the driver’s line of sight. This allows him to process it up to 50% faster and keep his attention where it belongs – on the road.

BMW vehicles with BMW Head-Up Display can be recognised by a small square depression on the dashboard. This contains a projector and a system of mirrors that beams an easy-to-read, high-contrast image onto a translucent film on the windscreen, directly in your line of sight.

The image is projected in such a way that it appears to be about two metres away, above the tip of the bonnet, making it particularly comfortable to read. BMW Head-Up Display halves the time it takes for eyes to shift focus from road to the instruments and back. The system’s height can be adjusted for optimal viewing.

The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display in many newer BMW models makes the car even more comfortable for the driver. More colours means it’s easier to differentiate between general driving information like speed limits and navigation directions and urgent warning signals. Important information like ‘Pedestrian in the road’ (in conjunction with the optional BMW Night Vision) is now even more clear and recognisable – and this subsequently reduces the driver’s reaction time. The BMW Head-Up Display can easily be adjusted horizontally or vertically, via the iDrive Controller, for optimal viewing. This increased picture rotation means the BMW Head-Up Display is individually adjustable. All in all, it enables you to register information much faster, without having to take your eyes off the road.

In addition to the speed, which is displayed permanently, the BMW Head-Up Display can also show other content depending on model and equipment. Examples include: rpm (in BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M this is multi-coloured), navigation instructions like the Guiding information with intersection zoom function and Lane Guiding, Speed Limit Info and the status of the Active Cruise Control. Driver Assistant warnings and the Check Control are also displayed in the BMW Head-Up Display, e.g. pedestrian recognition from BMW Night Vision or the Collision Warning.

The driver can configure the BMW Head-Up Display to his requirements using the iDrive Controller."

ONCE AGAIN - TOTALLY NOT RECOGNIZING AND OR OMITTING THE REFLECTION ISSUES UPON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD!!!!

IS THERE EVIDENCE OF OTHER VARIOUS TYPES OF COVER UPS???
(see BMW Goes All In With Head Up Display)

Sadly, since 2011/2012 - present, it does not matter if you have BMW's Head Up Display (HUD) unit or not. The mass produced Dashboards/Dashboard Tops to accommodate the Head Up Display (HUD) apparatus have, because of the reflecton from the Dashboard Top onto the windshield, seriously affected the view of the driver unlike any mass produced automobile in automotive history. BMW has a great car, but they screwed up/messed up their Dashboard Tops and without remedies, will continue to severely disturb their unique driving experience.

COMMON SENSE SAFETY DICTATES THAT WE CANNOT ALLOW OTHER CAR COMPANIES TO FOLLOW BMW'S EXAMPLE.
